Description: Oil on canvas, 61 x 81.3 cm. Signed and dated 'Wright Barker/1923' (lower right)Catalogue note: Wright Barker was an English painter of hunting scenes and pet portraits, usually dogs. He spent most of his life in Ollerton, Yorkshire, where he owned and operated his own studio. He exhibited from 1891 to 1938 at the Royal Academy and also at Suffolk Street Gallery, during his career he won many prizes for outstanding craftsmanship. Barker's sporting scenes and genre paintings were well known and are still exhibited worldwide. His work captures the heart and soul of beloved pets and animals.
