Project Description

Catalogue note: Stiliana Alexieva is a British-Bulgarian artist who was tutored from an early age by her father Jordan Alexiev, an accomplished figurative artist and sculptor. She studied printmaking, photography and visual arts in Sofia followed by a Masters in Media at the University of West London, and a Masters in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work is exhibited at various art fairs and galleries around the world and in 2013 it was exhibited at The Royal Academy of Arts - Summer Exhibition. Her seascape series are inspired by the many changeable moods of the British and Scottish weather. The artist paints on raw sheets of aluminium. Through a self-developed artistic techniques, she incorporate the paint with the reflective surface. The different lights of the day are presented onto the metal, creating a play of foreground and background effects, and an ever changing scenery.
