Project Description
Description: Sandstone, 34 cm highCatalogue note: The present sculpture of Ganesha exemplifies the assimilation of Hindu ideology and artistic representation into the Cham culture, which was established in present-day Vietnam from as early as the second century AD. Despite constant warfare with their neighbours, particularly the Khmer Empire to the west, the Cham flourished, building numerous monuments and temples devoted to their adopted Hindu faith.
